Mata scores in opening win in U20 World Cup Qualifiers

The Oceania Football Confederation qualifying tournament for the 2019 FIFA U20 World Cup has kicked off in Tahiti.

WPSS had 4 players feature in the starting 11 for New Zealand as they won their opening match 2 – 1 against hosts Tahiti.

Locked at nil all after the first half WPSS striker Max Mata took centre stage slamming home a penalty and then laying on a second goal as the young Kiwi’s scored twice in 8 minutes early in the second half.

The hosts pulled a goal back soon after but it was not enough to stop the NZ U20 mens side picking up a vital 3 points in a 2 – 1 victory.
