NZ U20 crowned OFC champions

Just three days after securing qualification for the 2019 FIFA U20 World Cup in Poland, the NZ U20 Mens team have gone 1 better and won the OFC Championship in Tahiti.

In a tough encounter against the host nation the Kiwi boys won a tense final on Sunday evening 1 nil thanks to a second half strike.

Congratualtions to Miya and the 5 WPSS players that have represented NZ with pride – Kingsley Sinclair, Leon van den Hoven, Max Mata, Robert Tipelu and Boyd Curry.

The group arrive back home in New Zealand tonight and the WPSS family is looking forward to welcoming you all home.

Team success was also followed by individual success as prolific WPSS striker Max Mata picked up the golden boot as the championships top scorer.

Mata made 4 full appearances and hit 5 goals including a hat trick against Papua New Guinea and the crucial equalising goal in the semi final against New Caledonia.
